CAMP COMMON GROUND

Camp Common Ground is a special weekend camp experience in partnership with Camp CAMP.  This camp serves families who have a family member with both cancer and a disability. Their disability can either preexist their cancer diagnosis or have been caused by it. Camp Common Ground has no age limit, and everyone who lives in their immediate household is invited! Camp Common Ground is fun for the entire family, and all facilities and activities are fully wheelchair accessible.  For those who like a thrill, we have horseback riding, archery, and canoeing. For those who like to chill, we have arts and crafts, nature, and swimming. Other activities include s’mores, an all-camp dance, and more! At the end of the night, each family is housed in their own private cabin to allow for a quiet and relaxing space for any of your family’s care needs.

Beyond all of the fun activities, our families often say that the best part of the weekend is getting to know others who are facing the same life circumstances that they are. Our families have said that it can be isolating to have a child who has both a disability and cancer, and coming to Camp Common Ground helps them see that they are not alone in the journey. Each family is assigned a volunteer buddy for the weekend who can help take the kiddos to activities, allowing for rest and relaxation for their parents and caregivers. Camp Common Ground is a fun and laid-back weekend full of all sorts of adventure for the whole family!

If you would like to join the fun, follow our Facebook for announcements on when the next Camp Common Ground will be held. We can’t wait to see you there!

This weekend would not be possible without the financial support of our wonderful sponsor, Care Camps! For more information about their organization and all they do for children battling cancer, please visit https://carecamps.org/
